Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has released new information on the upcoming Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots 2025, which will feature more accessible eligibility criteria for language, work experience, and education.
The Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots 2025 will offer two new Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)-exempt immigration pathways, allowing foreign home care workers to secure jobs and obtain permanent residence (PR) once they arrive in Canada. These new pathways are set to open on March 31, 2025.
IRCC has clarified that initially, only individuals currently residing in Canada will be eligible to apply when the programs open. Applicants from outside Canada will be able to apply at a later time.
In addition to this, IRCC has provided further details about these pathways, including:
- The available streams under the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots 2025;
- Eligibility requirements for language scores, work experience, and job offers;
- Eligibility for out-of-status workers in Canada;
- Guidance for applicants to the now-closed Home Child Care Worker and Home Support Worker Pilots.
What are the streams under the new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots?
Foreign nationals can apply to the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots 2025 through one of two streams:
- The Workers in Canada stream;
- The Applicants not working in Canada stream.
At the time of launch in March, only the Workers in Canada stream will accept applications. The Applicants not working in Canada stream will open its application intake later in the year.
IRCC advises applicants to the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots Requirements to complete an approved language test and get their education assessed via an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) in preparation for the program’s opening in March.
Although the details for the Applicants not working in Canada stream are not yet available, IRCC will release more information as it becomes accessible.
It’s important to note that the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots Document Checklist and application preparation guidelines may change at any time. The IRCC advises all interested applicants to regularly check their website for the latest updates to ensure they have the most current information.
